Held captive by my computer screen
I look up
Notice where I am
In a room I sit
The air is warm and filled with the smell of lavender
Colors vibrant
There she sits across the room
Her smile, never ending
Her eyes, fetching
Her presence, inviting
There I sit across the room
Typing away
Finishing never-ending papers
Hands aching from the endless taps and clicks
There she sits across from me
Drawing away
Face deep inside her little world
There I sit in silence
Like a prisoner
Cuffed to my laptop
There she sits with glee
Like a child
She giggles and laughs
Free of worry and care
I tear away from my electronic captor
As if compelled by some unearthly presence
I sit next to her
Caught by her gaze like a deer
Out of the brightness of her smile
I am struck
